The death of a patient from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 241, as well as 475 new cases of coronavirus (positivity rate: 0.99%), the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.
According to the Ministry of Health, 221 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 42 in serious condition.
A total of 47,884 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out, of which 475 have been identified (positivity rate: 0.99%), bringing the total number of cases to 40,344.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Male, aged 73, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 241, of which:
- 160 men (66%), and
- 81 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 221 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 42 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 42 patients critical, 11 are intubated, 12 are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 19 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 47,884 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 3,840 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 44,044 using the antigen rapid test, 475 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 163 cases from 1,015 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) of cases.
- 10 cases of 1,403 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 28 cases from 745 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 11 cases from 371 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 3 cases from 305 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
- 10 cases from 679 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 250 cases from 43,365 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 1 sample taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
