One person died due to coronavirus, while another 407 new positive cases were identified, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
Specific:
- One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 242.
- 201 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 46 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 53,774 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 407 (positivity rate: 0.76%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 41,882.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Man, aged 91, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 242, of which:
- 161 men (67%), and
- 81 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 201 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 46 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 46 patients critical, 19 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 23 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 53,774 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 3,742 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 50,032 using the antigen rapid test, 407 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 125 cases from 834 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 5 cases from 748 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 75 cases from 1,690 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 2 cases from 173 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
- 5 cases from 191 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 9 cases from 374 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 186 cases from 49,658 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 106 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
