The Ministry of Health announces that today, 4 March 2021, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 232.
Additionally:
- 101 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 22 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 39,807 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 384 (positivity rate: 0.96%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 36,004.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 232, of which:
- 155 men (67%), and
- 77 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 101 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 22 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 22 patients critical, 12 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and nine in an Increased Care Unit
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 39,807 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,830 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 36,977 using the antigen rapid test, 384 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 73 cases from 572 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 4 cases from 438 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 42 cases from 1,425 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 9 cases from 258 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 15 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme.
- 5 cases from 256 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 249 cases from 36,721 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
