383 NEW CASES AND TWO DEATHS, FRIDAY

Two people have died of COVID-19 disease today Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to 238. At the same time, 383 new cases were identified.

195 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 36 of whom are in serious condition. A total of 57,337 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

383 (positivity rate: 0.67%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 38,879.

The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 disease, relate to

  • Man, aged 70, with underlying diseases, who ended up today at Famagusta General Hospital.
  • Male, aged 69, with underlying diseases, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 238, of which:

  • 158 men (66%), and
  • 80 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

A total of 195 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 36 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 36 patients critical, 21 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 13 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

Famagusta (71 patients) - COVID Chamber 67, Increased Care Unit 4

Nicosia (52 patients) - Intensive Care Unit 23 (2 off ventilator), COVID Chamber 27,

Limassol (65 patients) - Thalamos COVID 58, Monada Auximenis Frontidas 7, Macaer (7 patients),

Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 57,337 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,822 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 54,515 using the antigen rapid test, 383 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 111 cases from 753 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) of cases.
  • 1 case of 510 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 56 cases from 1,315 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 13 cases from 212 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 11 cases from 813 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
  • 191 cases from 53,702 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 32 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
