365 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, TUESDAY

One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 246. At the same time, 365 new cases were identified today.

Also, 222 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 50 are in serious condition.

A total of 36,702 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

365 (positivity rate: 0.99%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 42,993.

One person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 disease concerns a man, aged 90 years, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 246, of which 163 are men (66%), and 83 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

A total of 222 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 50 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 50 patients critical, 23 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 22 are in an Increased Care Unit.

Positive incidents

Of the 36,702 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 3,533 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 33,169 using the antigen rapid test, 365 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 125 cases from 735 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
  • 3 cases from 500 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 86 cases from 1,777 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 13 cases from 464 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 14 cases from 846 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 124 cases from 32,323 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 57 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
