361 NEW CASES, FRIDAY

At 361 positive cases of coronavirus recorded in the last 24 hours in Cyprus, while no deaths occurred. 

According to the Ministry of Health:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 248.
  • 196 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 53 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 48,484 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 361 (positivity rate: 0.74%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 43,971.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 248, of which:

  • 165 men (67%), and
  • 83 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 196 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 53 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 53 patients critical, 25 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 22 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 48,484 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 3,837 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 44,647 using the antigen rapid test, 361 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

• 135 cases from 831 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.                                                                                                                                                            • 3 cases of 1,598 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.              • 49 cases from 1,104 samples taken through a private initiative.                                                             • 29 cases from 280 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.      • 11 cases from 585 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.                                                                                                                                                  • 134 cases from 44,062 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

• 24 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
