360 NEW CASES AND TWO DEATHS, MONDAY

Two more deaths of civilians who died as a result of COVID-19 disease, the Ministry of Health announced, bringing the total number of deaths to 254. At the same time, another 360 were announced (positivity rate: 0.74%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 44,991.

Paralysed:

  • 185 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 49 are in serious condition.
  • A total of 48,432 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Woman, aged 75, with underlying diseases, no history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 85, with underlying diseases, no history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 254, of which:

  • 168 men (66%), and
  • 86 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 185 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 49 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 49 patients critical, 19 are intubated, eight are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 22 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 48,432 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 4,032 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 44,400 using the antigen rapid test, 360 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 66 cases from 666 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) of cases.
  • 9 cases of 1,770 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 30 cases from 973 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 23 cases from 452 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 171 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 10 cases from 791 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 221 cases from 43,609 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
