Two deaths and 334 new cases of coronavirus after a total of 43,411 checks were carried out, the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday, with the positivity rate remaining relatively stable and at 0.77% from 0.74% on Friday.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, these are two men, 71 and 79 years old respectively, both with underlying diseases, bringing the total number of losses with coronavirus since the onset of the pandemic to 250. The total number of cases is 44,305.
At the same time, the total number of patients is 193, of which 51 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions. Of the 51 patients critical, 23 are intubated, seven are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 21 are in an Increased Care Unit.
The two people who died with the final cause of death, COVID-19, concern a man, aged 71 years, with underlying diseases, with a history of vaccination (1st dose) who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital and another man, aged 79 years, with an underlying disease, without a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Limassol General Hospital.
The total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 250, of which 167 are men (67%), and 83 women (33%), with the average age of the deceased from the disease at 79 years.
According to the Ministry of Health, 334 new cases of coronavirus followed 43,411 laboratory diagnoses, of which 3,913 with the molecular method (PCR) and 39,498 with the antigen rapid test.
In particular, 92 cases emerged from 659 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases, 3 cases from 673 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports, 54 cases from 2,049 samples taken through a private initiative, 9 cases from 252 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
At the same time, 21 cases from 748 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies, while 155 cases were diagnosed from 38,750 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
With regard to provincial controls, in Nicosia 48 cases were detected after 14,087 tests with a positivity rate of 0.34%, in Limassol 60 new cases after 11,060 tests with the positivity rate reduced to 0.54%, in Larnaca 36 new cases from 6.47 6 tests with a positivity rate of 0.56%, in Paphos 4 after 4,384 tests with a positivity rate of 0.09% and in Famagusta also 4 new cases after 2,024 tests with the positivity rate amounting to 0.20%.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Male, aged 71, with underlying diseases, with a history of vaccination (1st dose) who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Man, aged 79, with underlying disease, no history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 250, of which:
- 167 men (67%), and
- 83 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 193 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 51 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 51 patients critical, 23 are intubated, seven are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 21 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 43,411 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 3,913 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 39,498 using the antigen rapid test, 334 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 92 cases from 659 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 3 cases from 673 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 54 cases from 2,049 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 9 cases from 252 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 110 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
- 170 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
