Another 324 new cases of coronavirus were announced today by the Ministry of Health, bringing the total number of cases to 43,610. A total of 21,300 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out and 196 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 51 of whom are in serious condition.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 248, of which:
- 165 men (67%), and
- 83 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 196 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 51 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 51 patients critical, 23 are intubated, seven are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 21 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 21,300 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,378 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 18,922 using the antigen rapid test, 324 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 122 cases from 870 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 56 cases from 1,039 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 5 cases from 340 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 127 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 139 cases from 18,795 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 129 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
