302 NEW CASES - MONDAY

Cyprus recorded a further increase in daily cases on Monday, with the Ministry of Health announcing 302 cases of coronavirus, with the daily positivity rate rising to 0.79%.

This is the highest number of daily cases since 9 January. With today's new cases the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 35,009.

At the same time, no casualties were reported due to Covid with the death toll as a result of the disease remaining at 231.

Today, a total of 38,001 disease detection tests were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

Limassol maintains the dismal lead with a total of 112 of the total 187 new cases detected through the rapid antigen test method.

In addition, the number of nurses has fallen, which has now fallen to 76, including 24 in serious condition.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 231, of which:

  • 154 men (67%), and
  • 77 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 76 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 24 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 24 patients critical, 12 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 10 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 38,001 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,583 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 35,418 using the antigen rapid test, 302 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 88 cases from 580 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
  • 4 cases of 900 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 10 cases from 510 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 4 cases from 354 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 3 cases from 239 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 6 cases from 533 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
  • 187 cases from 34,885 samples examined using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
