Another day no deaths were recorded with the final cause of the coronavirus, but there was a large increase in cases after reaching 283 in the last 24 hours.
More specifically, according to the Ministry of
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 231.
- 88 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 24 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 45,231 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 283 (positivity rate: 0.63%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 34,707.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 231, of which:
- 154 men (67%), and
- 77 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 88 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 24 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 24 patients critical, 13 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 10 in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 45,231 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 1,575 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 43,656 using the antigen rapid test, 283 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 104 cases from 534 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) of cases.
- 12 cases from 587 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 6 cases from 150 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 161 cases from 43,599 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 110 samples taken through the process of tracing secondary case contacts.
- 194 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 57 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
At the top of the positive cases of coronavirus is Limassol, since according to the data of the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours 94 cases were recorded.
It is followed by Nicosia with 42, Larnaca with 14, Paphos with 10 and Famagusta with just one positive incident.
