PROPOSED RELAXATIONS FROM 1 MARCH - FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT TOMORROW

 Filenews 24 February 2021

The new relaxes of the restrictive measures, which will be formally announced tomorrow, at the end of the Council of Ministers, and which will take effect from 1 March, are being finalised. According to secure information from associated news, students are returning to schools, but there is a slight caveat as to whether all students should return at the same time from next Monday or whether high school students should return first and one week later high school students should return at the same time. Large openings, including the catering sector, appear to be heading for after March 15. The issue of the presence of fans in stadiums was also raised, which is not excluded from 15 March, although it depends entirely on the epidemiological picture.

The members of the Scientific Advisory Committee met this morning with the President of the Republic.

In detail, according to associated information, the changes that will take effect from 1 March are as follows:

- Return of students to schools and subject teachers to rapid test every week

- Restart for all sports with strict protocols and if possible without locker room function

- Reopening of gyms with numerical limitations

- Reopening of care homes, dance schools, conservatories and art classes with restrictions of five people per group

- Increase capacity in theatres and reopen galleries

In addition, it will continue to be operational in 8998 and the measure of sending two SMS 24 hours a day per citizen.

Focus does not open

With regard to the area of catering, the Government, through the Minister of Health, has made it clear in the past few days that there is no question of reopening them from 1 March, but no date has been set for restarting the sector. For their part, the scientists seem to have chosen to let the Government take the final decisions on this issue.
