An application for an emergency vaccine for COVID-19 was submitted by Johnson & Johnson to the US Food and Drug Control Agency (FDA).
The pharmaceutical company's monodosic vaccine has efficacy against Covid-19, 66%.
Once the vaccine is approved, it will be the third coronvirus vaccine allowed to be administered in the US. Pfize/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have also been approved. Pfizer's vaccine was approved by the FDA on December 11 and Moderna a week later.
It is noted that the FDA has stated that it will give the green light to a vaccine that has an efficacy of at least 50%.
