In agreement with Moderna for the supply of 150 million additional doses of its vaccine against Covid-19 announced by the European Commission, almost doubling the number of doses it has secured for 2021 from this American biotechnology company.
Under the agreement, the EU also has an option to buy another 150 million instalments in 2022.
The EU has already closed 160 million doses of the Moderna vaccine this year. Deliveries began in January, with the aim of delivering 10 million doses by the end of March, although there have been several delays.
Earlier today, meanwhile, an EU agreement with Pfizer/BioTech was announced to supply an additional 200 million doses of the vaccine later this year, with 75 million doses delivered in the second quarter.
