Filenews 12 February 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

The project of the regeneration of the area of rocks in the Episkopi community of Paphos, known as "Meteora of Cyprus", has been completed and already the area is being transformed into a popular area of excursionists from other regions of Cyprus, as well as organized groups that carry out tours of the province at times when epidemiological decisions allow this.

This fact was confirmed by speaking to the "F" community actors of the Diocese, who reported that mainly visitors of special interests, such as hikers, cyclists and climbers, have already placed the area of the rock in the permanent calendar of their visits.

The project lasted 10 months and cost 259 thousand euros. Speaking to "F", the Prefect of Paphos, Mary Lambrou, stressed that the redevelopment that took place improved the space that can be used for community events and other activities, while at the same time projecting this natural monument.

The famous rock of Episkopi attracts thousands of visitors every year, in times of normality, impressed by its imposingness and breath-taking view. At the same time, it is a unique ecosystem with protected species of fauna of Cyprus, which is why it is also a reference point for environmental organisations.
