A 36-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were taken to the Larnaca District Court today and arrested for facilitating investigations into the detection of weapons and drugs late last month in the provinces of Larnaca and Nicosia.
The weaponry and drugs were detected during a coordinated operation by the Police in the two provinces between the dates 29 and 30 January 2021.
The operation involved members of the TADE Headquarters, MMAD, YKAN, TADE Larnaca, as well as members of the police dog branch and bomb squad. During its duration, a firearm, number of cartridges, half a kilogram of explosive, two electrical detonators, approximately 2.5 kg of cannabis and various items related to the cultivation and packaging of drugs were identified and seized.
An eight-day detention order was issued against the 32-year-old and a four-day detention order was issued against the 36-year-old.
The T.E. Larnaca and YKAN (Larnaca District) continue the examinations.
