BULLDOZERS GET BACK TO WORK IN PAPHOS

Filenews 13 February 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

The bulldozers, after a few months of respite, are getting back to work at an intensive pace from next week in Paphos.

In the tourist area and in particular in the area of the formation of the works of unification of the archaeological sites and in the commercial traditional centre, in particular in Fellaoglou, begin the projects that will contribute to the formation of two important new interventions of the municipal authority: the completion of the long-suffering, as it unfolded, project of the unification of the antiquities of Kato Paphos and the emergence of another traditional hanio, after the Hani of Ibraim.

The consolidation of the archaeological sites has received a lot of publicity in recent days, after the signing between the Municipality and the preferred bidder, Miltiadis Neophytou, of the contracts for the undertaking and completion of the project.

However, the project of the complete renovation of Chani, located on Fellaoglou Street, is also ready for implementation. The procedures enter the implementation phase after the award of the tender selected following the relevant tender and the signing of the contracts between the Municipality of Paphos and the preferred bidder, for an expense of approximately €136,000 and a duration of three months' work.

The renovation will be promoted immediately and at a pace, stressed agents of the Municipality, with the aim of meeting the agreed timetable and thus completing the radical regeneration of the specific area of the wider "pazari" of Paphos, which has now acquired a new face and new dynamic with the projects so far.

The Hani of Fellahoglou Street is one of four Hanias that operated in Paphos 150 years ago.
