'BLACK BOX' WILL REVEAL INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT SATURDAY'S EVENT

Filenews 17 February 2021 - by Michalis Hatzivasilis

Recorded are the instructions given to the heads of last Saturday's event, as well as the information provided to the Police Headquarters on the situation, which will be given to the four criminal investigators appointed yesterday.

The Crisis Centre operates a system that records all conversations as another "black box", in which all actions in relation to the bloody event in Nicosia are recorded. The Police are preparing their "defence" to go on the counter-attack, following the massive criticisms it has received, collecting CCTV footage from local shops and postings on the internet as well as from its own videos, in order to hand them over to criminal investigators, who will consider whether excessive force was used. Among the material collected by the police, he claims, are photographs of people with bats in their hands and chains attacking the officers.

Yesterday, the Independent Police Complaints and Complaints Investigation Authority appointed four lawyers (two men and two women) as criminal investigators, and some reportedly come from other provinces so that they have no links to Nicosia. The appointment of former police officers was also avoided.

Meanwhile, a new headache arises for the Police, following the announcement of a new protest event by the same organizers, for next Saturday in Nicosia, and there are reports that they are also preparing for a similar event in Limassol. The police are monitoring the movements that are being made and will draw up a plan to do what they did at similar events. It is noted that last Saturday's event was classified as level 3, i.e. without much risk, but it got out of hand, resulting in civilian injuries.

The 24-year-old Anastasia, who was struck by the police water gun and injured in the eye, was treated and according to her doctor, may experience vision loss at 25%, while still not out of danger. Also shocking is the testimony of doctor Michalis Markidis, who was attacked by members of the Police while treating wounded people. The doctor served in the Doctors of the World and found himself at 2-3 events helping people in need.
