No deaths were recorded today due to coronavirus, while a slight decrease was recorded in positive cases reaching 243.
Specifically, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 231.
- 78 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 20 are in serious condition.
- A total of 40,747 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 243 (positivity rate: 0.60%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 34,424.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 231, of which:
- 154 men (67%), and
- 77 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 78 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 20 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 20 patients critical, 10 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and eight in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 40,747 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 2,587 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 38,160 using the antigen rapid test, 243 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 38 cases from 351 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 2 cases from 319 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 26 cases from 1,354 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 2 cases from 178 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case of 248 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
- 1 case of 268 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 173 cases from 37,892 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 61 samples taken through the process of tracing secondary case contacts.
- 76 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
