The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 25, 2021:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 231.
- 82 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 19 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 28,461 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 199 (positivity rate: 0.70%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 33,909.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 231, of which:
- 154 men (67%), and
- 77 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 82 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 19 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 19 patients critical, 10 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 6 in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 28,461 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,304 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 26,157 using the antigen rapid test, 199 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 64 cases from 429 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 27 cases from 940 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 6 cases from 413 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 160 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 100 cases from 25,997 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 291 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 88 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
- 140 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 3 samples taken as part of a check by the Cyprus Basketball Federation and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation.
