There has been an increase in new cases of coronavirus today reaching 176, with no death recorded.
Analytically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 230.
- 78 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 25 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 27,762 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 176 (positivity rate: 0.63%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 33,567.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 230, of which:
- 154 men (67%), and
- 76 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 78 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 25 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 25 patients critical, 11 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and nine in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 27,762 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,085 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 25,677 using the antigen rapid test, 176 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 53 cases from 237 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 2 cases from 208 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 27 cases from 859 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 8 cases from 421 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case of 270 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
- 2 cases from 690 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 83 cases from 24,987 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 85 samples taken through the process of tracing secondary case contacts.
- 5 samples taken as part of an audit by the Cyprus Basketball Federation and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation.
