The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 6, 2021 a person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 211.
- 112 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 33 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 36,863 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 132 (positivity rate: 0.36%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 31,644.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Male, aged 63, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 211, of which:
- 142 men (67%), and
- 69 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 112 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 33 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 33 patients critical, 17 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 10 in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 36,863 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 2,090 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 34,773 using the antigen rapid test, 132 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 37 cases from 273 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 1 case of 415 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 10 cases from 847 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 7 cases from 237 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case of 242 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
- 8 cases from 377 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 68 cases from 34,396 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 76 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
