The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 2, 2021:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 202.
- 121 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 40 are in serious condition.
- A total of 27,085 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 128 (positivity rate: 0.47%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 31,124.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 202, of which:
- 136 men (67%), and
- 66 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 121 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 40 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 40 patients critical, 23 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 12 in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 27,085 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 1,609 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 25,476 using the antigen rapid test, 128 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 29 cases from 241 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 9 cases from 562 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 12 cases from 225 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 78 cases from 25,476 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 317 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 264 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
