Two people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 227, the Ministry of Health announced.
In addition, as announced:
- 81 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 21 are in serious condition.
- A total of 25,414 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 121 (positivity rate: 0.48%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 32,828.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Male, aged 80, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 79, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 227, of which:
- 153 men (67%), and
- 74 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 81 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 21 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 21 patients critical, 13 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and six in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 25,414 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 1,837 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 23,577 using the antigen rapid test, 121 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 34 cases from 261 samples taken through the process of tracing close contacts (primary contacts) cases.
- 15 cases from 865 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 4 cases from 303 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case of 248 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
- 1 case of 53 samples taken under the migrant structure control programme.
- 66 cases from 23,506 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 44 samples taken through the process of tracing secondary case contacts.
- 63 samples taken as part of a check by the Cyprus Basketball Federation and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation.
- 71 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
