Traffic checks on the suitability of trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles were carried out today in areas of Limassol and Larnaca, members of the Police in cooperation with officers of the Department of Road Transport.
A total of 65 vehicles were checked during today's operation, with members of the Police and TOM making twelve (12) complaints and nine (9) written observations on various traffic offences, while TOM officers revoked the registration and certificates of fitness of four trucks.
Among other infringements, five (5) infringements relating to the use of tachographs were found, the certificate of conformity – MOT two (2) heavy vehicles had expired, two (2) heavy vehicles carried worn tyres, while one (1) towed truck cart did not carry a registration plate.
The inspection operation was carried out in the areas of Chapel and Kofinou, by members of the Traffic Department, the Police Headquarters, specialized in the field of technical and mechanical vehicle controls, with the aim of preventing serious and fatal traffic collisions.
