Five people died Thursday from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 208, the Department of Health announced.
In addition, 112 patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized, 31 of whom are in serious condition.
A total of 28,405 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out and 116 new cases of coronavirus (positivity rate: 0.41%) have been detected, bringing the total number of cases to 31,379.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The five people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Male, aged 81, with an underlying disease, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 73, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 86, with underlying diseases, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 71, with an underlying disease, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 84, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 208, of which:
- 140 men (67%), and
- 68 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 112 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 31 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 31 patients critical, 19 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 9 in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 28,405 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 1,592 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 26,813 using the antigen rapid test, 116 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 26 cases from 276 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 14 cases from 612 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 4 cases from 305 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case of 109 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
- 71 cases from 26,813 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 249 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 41 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
