Two new deaths and 105 new cases of coronavirus were announced Monday by the Ministry of Health.
- Two people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 214.
- 103 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 34 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 34,739 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 105 (positivity rate: 0.30%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 31,864.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Man, aged 89, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.
- Man, aged 93, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 214, of which:
- 145 men (68%), and
- 69 women (32%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 103 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 34 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 34 patients critical, 19 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 10 in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 35,739 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 2,283 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 32,456 using the antigen rapid test, 105 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 18 cases from 218 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 7 cases from 753 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 5 cases from 288 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 7 cases from 501 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 68 cases from 31,955 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 804 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 220 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
