WHICH COMPANIES SUSPEND THEIR OPERATIONS?

What are included in the new measures for what businesses, announced by the government through the Minister of Health Konstantinos Ioannou which will take effect from Sunday, 10 January 2020, at 5 a.m. and until 31 January at midnight.


All retail undertakings shall be suspended, with the exception of the following undertakings:

- "Food and beverage retail businesses (supermarkets, grocery stores, butchers, fish shops, bakeries, bakeries, pastry shops, fruit markets, liquor stores, kiosks, mini markets), without the use of table seats,

- Pharmacies,

- Private health enterprises (clinical laboratories),

- Fuel stations,

- Enterprises and laboratories of wheelchairs and orthopaedics,

- Enterprises and laboratories of medical and industrial gases and machinery,

- Optical enterprises and laboratories,

- Companies selling hearing aids,

- Medical equipment and medical supplies undertakings,

- Undertakings trading in car parts and accessories,

- Tyre sales companies,

- Bicycle marketing and repair undertakings,

- Vehicle cleaning operations, only for cleaning the outside of the vehicle,

- Car and motorcycle workshops,

- Cleaners

- Postal and courier undertakings,

- Undertakings selling feeding stuffs or veterinary medicinal products

- Companies selling, grooming and feeding pets,

- Telecommunications supply undertakings, in so far as it concerns account payment, balance renewal, repair and replacement services of mobile devices,

- Undertakings marketing pesticides, fertilisers and pesticides, materials or equipment,

- Nurseries and florists

- Popular food markets operating at 50% of their capacity and a distance of 1.5 metres between persons and in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

It is understood that retailers whose operation is not suspended must comply with the measure of one person per minimum of 10 m2 of useful space and in addition to large shops of more than 500 m2 will be checked in the presence of an authorised person of the store at the entrance of the store for not exceeding the maximum number of physical presence of customers. :

It is further provided that all retail undertakings, whether suspended or not, may provide e-commerce or telephone commerce services by home delivery:

It is further provided that undertakings which continue to operate may not market any products marketed by retail undertakings which by this Decree suspend their operation.

Private enterprises/services that remain in operation are promoted teleworking, with arrangement for simultaneous physical presence of 15% of their staff, with a maximum number of employees who can be physically present at 20 people per professional premises.

Companies suspending their operations include, inter alia: barbershops and hairdressers, beauty salons, tattoo centres, theatres, cinemas, theatres, theatres, outdoor and open amphitheatres, dining and entertainment venues, shopping centres, department stores, playgrounds, gyms, dance schools, other relevant schools.
