VACCINE PORTAL OPENS MONDAY 25 JANUARY AT 9AM - FOR THOSE OVER AGE 90 [5,448 appointments available]

Following the change of procedure for arranging appointments for vaccination against COVID-19, as a result of the encouraging and strong response shown by citizens in previous weeks, the implementation of the National Vaccination Plan continues with the availability of 5,448 appointments only for people over the age of 90 years. The Vaccination Portal will be available to citizens over the age of 90 who have not been vaccinated or have not already arranged an appointment, on Monday, January 25, at 9 a.m. The new appointments relate to the period from 27 January to 5 February.

It is recalled that vaccinations are carried out by 11 workshops in 9 Vaccination Centres already operating in all Provinces. At the same time, the Linopetra Vaccination Centre, Limassol, begins its operation, while vaccination workshops are added in Latsia, Lakatamia and Paphos and the hours in Larnaca and the days in Lakatamia and Famagusta are extended. Citizens will therefore be served by a total of 15 workshops.

It is clarified that, depending on the rate of exhaustion of appointments for people over 90 years of age, citizens will be informed by means of a communication on the availability of appointments in the next age subcategories.

In relation to vaccination coverage of the population, a total of 7,153 vaccinations were carried out in the week 16-22 January 2021. Of these, 2,057 are for residents and staff of nursing homes and frontline professionals working in private sector and OKY hospitals in Cyprus who received the 2nd dose, and have therefore completed their vaccination. Another 5,096 people were given the 1st dose of the vaccine. The total number of people vaccinated with the 1st dose is 15,322 people.
