Aiming at the ongoing epidemiological surveillance of the general population and focusing on specific groups, as informed by the Ministry of Health, increased control with the antigen rapid test continued in the week of 11-15 January.
It is noted that of the 14,509 tests carried out on employees, 27 positive incidents occurred, which are part of the total of 660 positive results from rapid tests recorded in the week of 11-15 January. The positivity rate is 0.19%.
From 11 January, checks shall focus on the workplaces which remain in operation, in accordance with the Decree of 8 January 2021.
In particular, a total of 47,241 rapid tests were carried out during the above period. Approximately one third of these audits, i.e. 14,509 tests concerned employees in private enterprises and sectors whose operation has not been suspended, as well as public and wider public sector staff .
Mobile sampling units were covered in all Provinces industrial areas, companies and sectors such as construction sites, industries, crafts, media organizations, banking institutions, Special Schools, as well as Departments/Services of Ministries.

At the same time, and given that teleworking is being carried out in the public sector and arrangements have been made by the Departments and Departments of the Ministries to ensure that staff work on a rotating basis with a physical presence, checks will continue next week in Ministries and other public services, in order to check the staff working remotely last week and to cover as many employees as possible.
At the same time, the weekly control programmes of residents and staff of nursing homes/closed and other structures, health professionals in private hospitals and hospitals of the OKY and the National Guard continue. At the same time, sampling continues to be carried out in the general population of Cyprus.
Finally, it is recalled that from the start of the rapid antigenic testing programme on 16 November 2020 until 16 January 2021, a total of 420,988 tests were carried out and 10,732 positive cases were detected with a positivity rate of 2.55%.
