Free WiFi and digital touch screens to inform the public, locals and foreigners, about the activities of the city, now established in the area of the traditional shopping center of Paphos.
Digital displays are connected to the platform of culture, tourism and entrepreneurship already prepared by the Municipality of Paphos, in order to offer every citizen or visitor direct and complete information on anything that may interest him, from restaurants and hotels to cultural events, attractions and businesses.
The action is implemented within the framework of the European programme "Development of smart city applications in municipalities of Cyprus, Crete and the North Aegean" known by the acronym Smart Cities. Within the framework of this Programme, the integrated Operational Plan for the transformation of Paphos into a "smart city" has already been developed, while the creation of an innovative application with augmented reality technology and the preparation of a study on the branding of the city are under way.
The Smart Cities project is implemented under the Interreg V-A Greece-Cyprus 2014-2020 cooperation programme and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and national resources from Greece and Cyprus. The Municipality of Paphos participates in this as a lead partner, while as partners participates in the fraternized municipalities of Chania and Lesvos.
The relevant contract for this infrastructure was signed at the end of September with the contractor and is a total amount of €32,000.
