IN CYPRUS, WANTED FOR EXPLOSIVES SENT TO BEIRUT

 Filenews 12 January 2021

Two Russians and a Portuguese man are being sought by Interpol in connection with explosives sent to Beirut that had been stored for six years in the city's port before exploding last August, injuring 200 people and injuring many others.

According to a Daily Mail report, one of the two Russians wanted is businessman Igor Greuskin, who lives permanently in Cyprus and is the owner of the cargo ship with which the explosives were sent to Beirut. The second Russian wanted by Interpol is Boris Prokosef, who is the ship's former captain, and a few days after the deadly explosion he had told The Associated Press that Gruskin was paid a million dollars to transport the dangerous cargo. As far as the Portuguese is concerned, he is Jorge Manuel Mirra Neto Moreira, a trader of ammonia nitrate.

Interpol's notice is not an arrest warrant and is not binding on the states.

It is recalled that nearly 30 people were arrested in connection with the deadly explosion, most of them port and customs officials, and last month the Prosecutor investigating the circumstances of the explosion brought charges against Lebanon's interim prime minister, Hassan Diab, and three former ministers, accusing them of negligence that led to the deaths of dozens of people.
