Seven months after the installation of the "Fish of Recycling", this ecological installation in the municipal beach of Geroskipou, the necessity of its use seems to have become essential for many citizens and visitors of the coastal area of the Municipality. A significant volume of recyclable garbage was collected within these months, according to the officials and already the materials were separated from the "belly" of this different fish, with the bags being transported to the Green Point of the Municipality of Geroskipou, in the area of Kolonis.
These materials are promoted for recycling, while the aluminum cans are placed in separate bins and promoted to the NGO "Cans for Kids" which uses the proceeds from the sale of aluminium to equip the children's wing of the Makarios Hospital.
Speaking to "F", Elena Daniel, creator of this fish, stressed that with the support of the Municipality of Geroskipou, all the initiators of the initiative managed to prevent the dumping of these garbage on the beach, so as not to end up in the sea.
"In addition to promoting materials for recycling", he stressed, "the idea began and focused on cultivating the ecological awareness of the visitors of the beach, but also of the students of the schools of Geroskipou who participated in the action. They shall also participate as far as the crown allows in parallel actions on their own initiative.".
Now the children have taken the issue very warmly, stressed Mrs Daniel, and are constantly thinking about new ideas for future actions which is very happy for all the relevant bodies.
