Particular attention is recommended to the public by the Police, in order to protect against fraudulent phone calls made at this time to citizens and aimed at the posting of passwords on computers.
According to a briefing obtained by the Police, the perpetrators, in their conversation with citizens who answer phone calls, say they are the operators of branded IT services companies and claim that their company is carrying out work to upgrade the operating system and other software. For the purpose of the proposed upgrade, they ask citizens to provide them with the passwords they use.
Using the codes, the perpetrators of the fraud are able to gain access to citizens' computers, with the ultimate goal of cybercrime.
The Police draw the public's attention and recommend that citizens who receive such phone calls avoid reporting any codes or other personal information.
