BoC WARNS CLIENTS TO BE ON ALERT FOR SCAMMERS

Bank of Cyprus on Tuesday warned clients to be on alert against scammers trying to access their accounts and urged them not share any information.

In a written statement, the bank said in the past few days, clients have been recipients of misleading text messages, emails and messages through popular Apps by scammers trying to defraud them.

Clients were being asked to share sensitive information such as their user name and password on ibank, one time passwords (OTPs) and credit card numbers in an attempt to access their accounts and make transfers or use their cards.

“Bank of Cyprus urges its clients not to respond to the fraudulent messages and not to reveal or submit sensitive information,” it said.

It also assured that bank personnel would never ask client for personal information such user names and passwords of their ibank account, OTPs or  verification codes, credit card numbers and details by email, sms, telephone calls, pop ups or links.

Clients should forward any suspicious message to the email address: abuse@bankofcyprus.com. Persons who believe they have shared personal data in anyway should immediately contact the bank on telephone 800 00 800 or if from abroad on telephone +357 22 128000.
