ASTROPARK, WALKING/CYCLE PATHS IN AKAMAS - DELAYED DUE TO PANDEMIC

After the already launched Centre of Geology and Paleontology Akamas, based in the community of Arodes, the Paphos Provincial Administration in cooperation with the community promotes the processes for the construction of walking/cycle routs and Astropark in Paphos.

This was underlined to "F" by the District Officer of Paphos, Mary Lambrou, who stressed that in collaboration with the Community Council of Arodes, the Provincial Administration is promoting a study with private scholars for the creation of walking and cycling routes, linking historical, cultural and religious points of the area together with Astropark.

"These are, in particular, three total routes that are connected to each other and have an area of about 18 km," said the District Officer of Paphos. "The total estimate of the project is around €340,000".

Ms Lambrou stressed that the Administration and the local authority of Arodes are ready with the project scholar to apply for planning permission so that the project can be included in the next annual state budgets under the integrated Akamas project.

The Astropark would have already been promoted for implementation in 2020 but developments with the pandemic also caused significant delays in the promotion of pre-work in this project, with the result that it has been referred for 2021, but also in this case subject to the relatively rapid normalisation of the situation.
