Epidemiological data in relation to Covid-19 deaths are worrying, since according to data from the Ministry of Health, 10 deaths have been recorded in the first four days of January. At the same time in December there were 85 deaths attributed to the crown.
As of 4 January 2021, 163 deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 have been reported. 67% concern men (n=109 deaths) and the remaining 33% concern women (n=54 deaths)
Of the 163 deaths, 133 (82%), had an underlying cause of COVID-19. for men (n=89 deaths) and the remaining 33% for women (n=44 deaths). , from the beginning of the pandemic to the present day, with the figure reaching 52% of the total number of deaths (n=85).
In the last week (28/12/2020 - 3/1/2021) the highest number of deaths (n=22 deaths) of people positive for COVID-19 has been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, with 13% of the total number of deaths.
26% (n=43) of the total number of deaths of people positive for COVID-19 is for people living in nursing homes, 32 of whom ended up in a public hospital.
91% of all deaths (n=148) were at the place of death in the Public Hospital. The majority have ended up in a COVID-19 ward (70% of the total number of deaths in hospitals, v=104), while one in four (25%, n=37) has ended up in an Intensive Care Unit. The remaining 5% (n=7) has ended up in an Increased Care Unit.
At the same time, most deaths in people living in nursing homes were recorded in Limassol and Nicosia, with 20 persons respectively.
At the same time, according to Euromomo, Cyprus did not experience excess mortality during the pandemic
