627 NEW CASES AND TWO DEATHS, SATURDAY

Two people died of COVID-19 disease on Saturday, bringing the total number of deaths to 129. At the same time, 180 patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized, of which 54 are in serious condition.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 12,039 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test and 627 new cases of COVID-19 disease have been detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antig rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 23,445.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

- Male, aged 82, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.

- Woman, aged 91 years, with underlying diseases, residing in the Rehabilitation Center of Areti.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 129, of which:

- 86 men (67%), and

- 43 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 80 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 180 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 54 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 54 patients critical, 25 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 24 in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 12,039 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 1,600 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 10,439 using the antigen rapid test, 627 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 135 cases from 514 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 2 cases from 157 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 60 cases out of 517 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 16 cases from 224 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 5 cases from 173 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
  • 409 cases from 10,439 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 15 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
