573 NEW CASES AND FOUR DEATHS, WEDNESDAY

Four more people died from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 138, the Ministry of Health announced.

573 new cases of COVID-19 disease were also announced, identified by 10,201 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 25,781.

It is also noted that 187 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 49 of whom are in serious condition. Of the 49 patients critical, 25 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 18 in an Increased Care Unit.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The four people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • A man, aged 79, with underlying diseases, who was treated at Famagusta General Hospital after being transferred from the Sotiros Foundation, Larnaca.
  • A man, aged 76, with underlying diseases, who lived in the retirement home of Areti.
  • Male, aged 76, with underlying diseases, who was being treated at Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Male, aged 69, with no underlying diseases, who was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 138, of which:

  • 93 men (67%), and
  • 45 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 80 years.

C. Positive events COVID -19(PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 10,201 laboratory diagnoses carried out today, 3,057 were performed using the molecular method (PCR) and 7,144 using the antigen rapid test, 573 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 178 cases from 882 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 1 case of 370 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 80 cases from 1,328 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 5 cases from 208 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 18 cases from 248 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 285 cases from 7,144 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
  • 6 cases from 21 samples taken as part of a check by the Cyprus Basketball Federation and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation.

In detail, the rapid antigen detection tests were carried out today as follows:

A total of 187 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 49 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 49 patients critical, 25 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 18 in an Increased Care Unit.
