One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 176, while 164 new cases of the disease were identified today.
194 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 59 are in serious condition.
A total of 8,366 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
164 (positivity rate: 1.96%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 29,294.
One person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 disease concerns a man aged 81, with underlying diseases, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 176, of which:
- 117 men (66%), and
- 59 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 80 years.
A total of 194 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 59 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 59 patients critical, 32 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 21 in an Increased Care Unit.

POSITIVE INCIDENTS COVID-19
Of the 8,366 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 1,867 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 6,499 using the antigen rapid test, 164 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 35 cases from 243 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 1 case of 260 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 29 cases from 689 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 11 cases from 424 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 5 cases from 235 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
- 83 cases from 6,499 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 16 samples taken as part of a re-examination carried out on the 7th day following the arrival of persons who have returned from the United Kingdom and are under mandatory restriction in hotels in the Republic.
