Boris Johnson's attempt to make political use of the start of vaccination in Great Britain has found a "wall" thanks to the head of the European People's Party (EPP) parliamentary group in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber.
In a Twitter post, the British Prime Minister wrote "today the first covid-19 vaccinations have begun in the UK. I thank the NHS, all our scientists who have worked hard in developing this vaccine and all those who follow the rules to protect others. We will win together."
However, this post provoked the reaction of Manfred Weber who reminded him that... without Europe there is no vaccine.
"Dear Prime Minister, your vaccine was developed by a German company, produced in Belgium and research into its development was funded by the EU.
Of particular interest is that this incident comes at a time when Boris Johnson was in Brussels to reach an agreement with the European Union on Brexit, which ultimately did not work.
