They gathered at a house for fun, despite a curfew, and when the police intervened following complaints, they started running and hiding trying to escape the consequences.
There were about 20 young people who on Christmas night gathered in their friendly house in Konia. An hour after midnight, however, residents began calling the police, after the youths began to get out of control, causing nuisance and unrest in the area. Upon arrival at the scene of a police patrol, the youths began to run and hide in the surrounding area, but were eventually identified and after receiving their details they were charged with violating traffic hours and gathering at a residence in violation of the provisions of the Infectious Cleansing Act.
On Christmas night in Paphos it seems that citizens have been ''out" more than ever, since according to the Police 27 citizens were reported, the highest number concerning individuals and not businesses recorded in the province during the implementation of the prohibition provisions.
Shortly after midnight on Christmas night, police also arrested a young driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and suspected of committing offences. In particular, members of the force on patrol spotted a 25-year-old man driving his vehicle an hour after midnight on Embas Avenue. The driver was signalled to stop and then subjected to a drug test with a positive reading.
A small amount of cannabis and burglary tools were also found in an in-vehicle check for which he was unable to provide sufficient explanations.
It was found that the vehicle had not passed through MOT.
The 25-year-old was arrested and taken into custody while examinations continue.
