A new round of contacts in ministries and state departments begins immediately after the celebrations, in order to finalize the type and extent of the development in its coastal area after the final sinking of Eden City's magnificent 7 billion plan.
Following the final abandonment of the project and the departure of the Hungarian investor from Cyprus, the municipal authority has already begun planning for the exploitation of this area which have been submitted to the competent state departments. Speaking to "F" the Mayor of Geroskipou, Michalis Pavlidis, said that in the last days before the festive season there were some contacts with state departments for this design, while after the holidays these contacts will thicken and will be put on a permanent basis in order to quickly promote the planning for the development of the coastal area of the Municipality.
"For a year and a half the municipal authority has prepared a comprehensive development plan in the beach area of the Municipality where Eden City would be created", he stressed, "which includes the expansion and enrichment of the sports center of the Municipality, which today concerns the football stadium and swimming pool, the creation of a bicycle park, a bicycle repair station, bicycle paths and other sports developments. The Municipality of Geroskipou has submitted this design and expects the assignment of the land by the state to it to promote the projects".
Geroskipou, Mr Pavlidis pointed out, considers that this design should be supported by the State, since the long delay and finally the shipwreck with the Hungarian investor for Eden City resulted in the city's coast area remaining untapped for years.
"This situation has essentially kept the local authority captive for many years in terms of promoting or developing other of its designs and developments," he said. "The state will now have to make final decisions on the basis of the new design we have developed to exploit this vast area."
