The latest governmental measures have gotten the best of Christmas events. As such, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra has had to cancel its Christmas concerts planned for December 15-18 but they have come up with an alternative to keep music and the holiday spirit alive!
“Since September,” the Orchestra says, “we have managed to keep our live concerts going, and we are grateful that we have come so far. During this time, we have always operated according to all the regulations and safety measures, responding immediately to every obstacle with alternatives in order to keep the concerts going.
“We are pleased to announce that yet one more time we have worked out an alternative. Our Christmas concert will take place without an audience and will be streamed online on December 24. Please stay tuned for the announcement of the exact times of transmission!”

VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT DEDICATED TO OUR FRONTLINE HEROES
A collaboration of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra with PwC Cyprus
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with PwC Cyprus, will present a special Christmas Concert exclusively broadcast on social media, dedicated to all the medical, nursing and support staff who are giving their own every day battle on the frontlines to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
The concert will be broadcast as follows:
24 & 25 December at 11:00
26 & 27 December at 17:00

The recorded concert includes an extensive selection of the most beautiful Christmas songs and orchestral pieces of all time. Audiences all over Cyprus will have the opportunity to enjoy songs such as “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, “Santa Baby” and “White Christmas”, and orchestral pieces such as Antonio Vivaldi’s “Winter” concerto and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasy on Greensleeves. Τhe wonderful soprano Aliki Chrysochou will be performing the songs and the renowned Maestro Gerardo Estrada Martínez will be conducting the CySO.
In statements, PwC Cyprus CEO Mr. Evgenios Evgeniou said that “In the past few months, and especially in this period, we are faced with great uncertainty and intense challenges, as a result of the spread of the pandemic. The real heroes of this period are none other than the frontline healthcare workers to whom we dedicate this concert, as a sign of recognition and appreciation of their valuable contribution".
