CORONAVIRUS - EIGHT FLIGHTS FROM UK WEDNESDAY

A total of eight flights are expected from the UK on Wednesday, five landing at Paphos airport and three in Larnaca, with arriving passengers to be taken direct to quarantine hotels under a new coronavirus decree.

The flights arriving in Paphos are from Liverpool, London, Edinburgh and Bristol, with EasyJet and Ryan Air.

According to operator Hermes Airports, the three flights arriving at Larnaca airport late in the afternoon and evening will be operated by British Airways, EasyJet and Wizz Air.

The number of passengers is not yet known because of possible cancellations due to the latest coronavirus decree issued after a new strain of the virus was identified in the UK.

Three flights from Britain landed at Larnaca Airport on Tuesday night, carrying a total of 185 passengers.

In accordance with the new decree the passengers were taken to quarantine hotels where they will stay for seven days.

Before leaving the airport for the hotels they were tested for Covid-19.

In the afternoon, a Ryan Air flight from London landed in Paphos, with 68 passengers on board. They were also tested and taken to a hotel.

The decree which requires passengers from the UK to stay in quarantine hotels for seven days will be in place until January 5 at 11.59pm.
