For the first time, police carried out more than 7,000 checks in 24 hours in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, nearly 3,000 in Limassol alone.
In total, the number of inspections from Thursday until Friday was 7,108. Fifty individuals and four establishments were booked as a result.
A police spokesperson said 2,981 checks were conducted in Limassol, 1,091 in Nicosia, 526 in Larnaca, 1,108 in Paphos, 940 in Famagusta and 454 in the Morphou district.
Sixteen people were fined in Famagusta, one in Morphou, 15 in Limassol, eight in Nicosia and 10 in Paphos.
