5.3 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE FELT ACROSS CYPRUS

A 5.3-degree earthquake on the Richter scale occurred in the sea area off Cyprus at 2:45 and was felt throughout the island.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 61 km south of the Turkish city of Alanya. The focal depth was estimated at 82 kilometers.

The earthquake lasted and was felt on Greek islands and neighbouring countries such as Lebanon, Israel and Syria, beyond Turkey.

The Cyprus Department of Geological Survey in a Twitter post says the 5.4 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale occurred at 14:44 on Saturday afternoon with a focal depth of 50km and an epicenter 50km north of Chrysochous Town.
