Two new deaths of coronavirus patients, 363 confirmed new cases of coronavirus and 236 positive rapid test announced by the Ministry of Health.
Detail:
- Two people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 70.
- 116 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 23 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 12,253 disease detection tests have been carried out, of which 3,829 have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 8,424 using the rapid test.
- 363 new cases of the disease were detected and confirmed by molecular tests (PCRs), bringing the total number of cases to 13,649. The 363 include 111 verifications from rapid tests in the previous days.
- In 236 cases from the rapid antigen detection tests there was a positive result, which should be verified by the molecular method (PCR).
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Male, aged 79 years, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized at Famagusta General Hospital, after being transferred from the nursing home Golden Age.
- Male, aged 98, with underlying diseases, who was being treated at Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 70, of which:
- 46 men (66%), and
- 24 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.
Molecular Examination (PCR test)
Of the 3,829 laboratory diagnoses carried out today using the Molecular Method (PCR), 363 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified and verified, resulting as follows:
- 89 cases from 707 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases out of 401 taken as part of a passenger and repatriated check.
- 133 cases from 1,428 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 12 cases from 311 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 3 cases from 254 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
- 9 cases from 52 samples taken under the laboratory testing programme carried out in nursing homes and other structures.
- 111 cases from 112 samples taken for verification using the molecular test method of positive results detected through the rapid antigen test method in the previous days.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- Samples taken as part of the control programme for pupils, teachers and school staff completed 527 laboratory diagnoses, and
- From samples taken as part of the migrant structure control programme, 37 laboratory tests were carried out.
Hospitalized:
A total of 116 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 23 of whom are in serious condition.
Of the 23 patients critical, 12 are intubated, three are hospitalized in the Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and eight in the Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
