WOMAN POSITIVE FOR COVID VIOLATED THE MEASURES AND WAS CIRCULATING IN PUBLIC, GAMBLING IN PAPHOS AND OTHER OFFENCES

In 2,557 checks carried out by the Police in the last 24 hours, as part of the campaign to implement the measures against COVID-19, which resulted in complaints about 59 citizens and 4 premises.

A spokesman for the Police Press Office told the CYPE that in Nicosia the checks were 372 to 10 complaints of citizens, in Limassol 445 with 11 complaints of citizens and in Larnaca 547 checks with 14 complaints of citizens.

In Famagusta the checks were 393 with 2 complaints of citizens and 2 premises, while in Paphos complaints were received in 2 premises and 21 citizens out of a total of 721 checks.

In Morfu 1 citizen was denounced by 41 checks carried out.

In addition, the Port Police carried out 38 checks without a complaint.

The complaints made to citizens concerned trafficking after prohibition hours and the non-use of masks indoors or outdoors.

In relation to the premises reported, the spokesman of the Police Press Office said that two complaints were made to premises in Famagusta and one to Paphos, which concerned poor signage, while one complaint was made at a house in Paphos, where an operation for gambling took place.

Woman positive for COVID violated the measures and was circulating in public

Meanwhile, according to the Police, it was reported that a woman living in the free province of Famagusta, while it was a confirmed case of coronavirus and had to be in self-contained, violated the restrictive measures and was circulating in a public place.

The woman was spotted yesterday afternoon by the police and charged while a criminal case is being investigated against her.

17 people have been charged in Paphos for gambling and breach of measures

With regard to the case of gambling, the Police identified seventeen persons indulging in gambling, in a residence on the municipal boundaries of Paphos, which the owner had turned into a casino.

The individuals were identified following information held by the police and after a court warrant was secured.

As evidence, during the investigation, cards and dice were removed.
