NORTH EXTENDS QUARANTINE RULES FOR ARRIVALS FROM SOUTH

Cyprus Mail 17 November 2020 - by Jonathan Shkurko

Turkish Cypriot authorities have extended a rule that requires people who cross over to the north and stay for over three days to quarantine for a week.

The measure, applied until November 16, will be extended until November 30 and does not apply to people crossing over to the north to stay for less than three days. Everyone, however, will have to present the authorities with a negative PCR coronavirus test not more than 72 hours old.

Excluded from the measure are those who work and study in the Republic, as well as people receiving medical treatment, Pyla residents, diplomats stationed in Cyprus, British bases staff and members of the UN peacekeeping force.

All the above, however, may be randomly tested for Covid-19 at checkpoints.

Face masks remain compulsory both indoors and outdoors in the north, with sport venues and clubs also closed until November 30. Theatres and cinemas are open but only allow one person per 1.5 square metres.
